Some more thoughts

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 27, 2013, 7:58 PM

A lot has gone on for me this month. Not only the new announcements for ESG:MA that's been driving me insane constantly, but dealing with other things yet again I wish not to name. I found this small excert taken from a tumblr account and though the translation may not be entirely accurate, it seems reasonable enough to me.

"The official title has been announced! "ExtremeSpeed Genesect: Mewtwo Awakens." Message from Yuyama Kantoku, about Mewtwo in the movie who has made appearances since the first production!

● About Mewtwo in this work
In our first work, "Mewtwo Strikes Back", Mewtwo has been related to themes about the self and the world, with questions about himself like "Who am I?"
This time Mewtwo has been out in the world since then, and sees the world as a little bit bigger place, where it possesses images of the world and its own thinking.
I'm intending for it to feel like Mewtwo has overcome a limit in regards to the previous time.
Its not the same Mewtwo (as in the first movie), but a Mewtwo who has gone out into the world— but what will he be like this time?

● Genesect and Mewtwo
As for common features between Genesect and Mewtwo,
they are both Pokemon who have arms/hands like people.
Mewtwo is a Pokemon that was born through the construction of Mew's genes, and Genesect is a Pokemon that lived 300,000,000 years ago, but was resurrected by Team Plasma.
Through their commonalities they ultimately clash with each other…
How they get through this is something that will be a big movie theme.

Its something that crosses the boundaries between humans and Pokemon.
Overcoming your own limits that you possess.
Then, since its "Extremespeed Genesect", I think speed will be a type of boundary overcome in battle."

Yuyama refers to Mewtwo as not being the same Mewtwo, but a Mewtwo that has 'gone out into the world' and the majority of the time refers to him as an 'it;' understandably so as Mewtwo is genderless, but he also mentions 'he.' Probably just a slip up, but it confirms (to me anyhow) that Mewtwo isn't a female as some people assume he is. Just because Mewtwo is being voiced by a female voice actor in the JLV dub is not to say that he is female. Personally, I just want to hear information about the ELV dub, and whether or not Dan Green will return to voice him. You're probably so sick of Mewtwo information by now. But for me it's like clinging onto every last bit of rope I can find while dangling over a cliff. It's literally doing my head in.

People seriously need to stop crying about their 'childhoods being destroyed' though. A new form does not equal a new evolution. The amount of hatred and butthurt and crying genwunners I've seen since the announcement is just beyond ridiculous. Mewtwo's new form is awesome so deal with it. Not everybody wants to give up Pokemon forever over it, and in fact I have BOTH X & Y on pre-order just in case. ;)

this mewtwo is not the same mewtwo, it is female and has a similar backstory to M1's mewtwo, but not the same. Read this: [link]

Then again I would still love Mewtwo with a female voice

Trough it does make me wonder does it mean Mewtwo got in touch with its femmine side? xD

I agree trough I did admit when I frist saw the form I was against it and whining about it but now I like it because its a form and not an evolution.
( some people in a forum I followed were claming it was in fact an evolution ! )
however the voice just kind of puts me off. There is proof that this is the same Mewtwo from the first movie as the movie manga has a scene where Ash talks to Cyian about how Mewtwo hated humans. ( which refers the events of Mewtwo Returns. )
The new voice is just..toooo girllyy. If you compare it to both the English, Dutch and Japanese voice that I all grew up with it's a big chance. I still would love to see this movie but I do hope this is not the same Mewtwo if it is I am just confused by the high pitch Japanese female voice.

Mewtwo is also refered as a he in the Pokemon manga and Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Games not to mention Mewtwo talks in Male-Baku form in Japanese. So since this is the same director of the first movie I just wonder why the sudden chance in voice.

Can't argue with you. The form is great. I mean it takes a while to get use to it but its not the end of the world. But even when its still the same Mewtwo the voice change is way to drastic. Japanese tend to keep the same voice actor or at least a sound-a-like, so its kind of weird that his voice is to girly. I hope he really stays as a boy ( i know his genderless but come on the first two he was a boy, although in the first one he sounded like a grouchy old man :D). They could have gone for a softer sounding guy voice. However i saw a trailer that was given in the last n episode of best wishes and it seem that the current voice actress is starting to get her voice lower than the April 17 trailer. Or my the way it was put on youtube with a lower pitch to not get deleted.

It's episode number according to bulbapedia is BW 122 and its called: Reshiram VS N! Beyond Truth and Ideals!!. However the link of the trailer is: [link]

I usually find the raw episodes since i'm to desperate to wait for subs in English and sometimes its just the episode with no preview included.

It definitely does sound like she is trying to make her voice lower. You can tell it's a girl, but if she does work on making her voice a bit lower perhaps it will be better when the movie is released. I still hope for a male voice actor in the English dub though. :)

That's what I was thinking. If she can pull of a lower voice that she can make Mewtwo's Voice work. The thing that worries some people is that the English dub goes the same route as the Japanese and put a girl voice actor. Dan Green is retired so i guess that guy checks out. Feel kind of bad for everything Dan when through T_T.

I think its interesting how the director refers to Mewtwo as an "it" because its the US versions that gender label Mewtwo as "he", which shows the cultural difference in the character's interpretation. Plus, Japanese voice acting is not as gender specific when it comes to playing a character as the US version, Keledo from the 15th movie is that example as in the J-dub he is played by a female while the US has a male voice for him. Plus, the fact that he also said that Mewtwo " who has gone out into the world" is a big step in developing the character because to be honest, I am sick of the existential crisis Mewtwo and this time instead of pondering about his identity, he can now play a bigger role in his life. Also Metro, have you noticed that when we both commented on several of the butthurt genwunners' journals when they wined that they immediately deleted it. SMH, some people are just overly too sensitive. I am looking forward to this movie!

I agree. We don't know much of his past, besides how he was raised in the tank and Amber. In the manga adaption preview I read of the movie, we get to see a little bit more insight into his past. Hopefully that happens in this movie as well. I would love to know where he got that cloak from and why it is exactly he's been travelling around the world.

And yes, I noticed that and had to laugh. It's really pathetic how they carry on about this, giving up Pokemon simply because the best Pokemon is even more powerful than he appears to be. I love his new form. I will admit it took me some getting used to at first, but I think he looks amazing. I just ignore the genwunners, but when they attack Mewtwo personally about it, saying how shit he has become or looks, then I get angry. Like one girl who thought it was funny to post up a picture of Mewtwo basically telling himself to die. FML.

I'm looking very forward to this movie indeed. I just hope it shuts the genwunners up.
